Provisions: Part 6 Summation

We have looked at how a mamma turkey provides schooling, substance, security, and strength for her poults. She will do everything in her power to teach them, feed them, protect them, and empower them so that they will have their best shot at life. It is amazing the instincts and other provisions that God has given animals like the turkey in order to survive and live life abundantly. However the key verse in our passage is Are ye not much better than they?

Matt.6:25-26 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

As good as God takes care of all wildlife, He always gives us “more” and treats us “much better” than all of His creation. First of all, He gave His only Son to die in our place so we can have eternal life. He sent down the Holy Spirit to guide us and convict us in all of life’s decisions. He teaches us daily if we would just listen, supplies us with food (God’s Word) if we would just partake of it, protects us from so much evil even when we don’t realize it, and empowers us in many ways if we would just allow Him to. Even when we don’t deserve His provisions He seems to always take care of us anyway. What a God!

Moreover, too many times as Christians we are missing out on the “more” in life that is “much better” than life as we know it. That is life defined by the world. I have to ask you this question, “What is your life?” What does your life mean to you and to the others that know you? James 4:14 asks this question, For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanish away. Our time here on Earth is but a short while. Do you what to live in the “more” and the “much better”, which is a life that is blessed and touched by God in the short time you have on Earth? This is the kind of heavenly provision I am looking for! Or, do you what to live your life in a way that only the world can give you.

The main idea to this complete passage found in Matt. 6: 25-34 is worrying or anxiety. Here we see Jesus illustrating His point by referring to objects in nature that were immediately at hand, the birds and the flowers. Again, the key point of this text is found in this passage: Are ye not much better than they? (v. 26) The Bible clearly teaches that God is the Creator and Sustainer of nature. Worry and anxiety are related to the length of one’s life in the phrase add one cubit unto his stature. (v. 27) This idea seems to be that a man cannot add the smallest measure to the span of his life by worrying. This state of anxiety is related to having little faith (v. 30). Faith is total confidence in the provision of God.

Unfortunately we in today’s society are so materialistic. We simply want more and more of the world each day. We want so much and worry about it when we don’t get what we want. You see I think Jesus is trying to tell us here that worry will be your reward when you rely on the world to give you what you want out of life. However, More and Much Better will be your reward when you rely on God to give you what He wants out of Life for your life. This is what you can call living life More Abundantly.

Look again to the outline below of the lesson’s from the Mamma Turkey and the Master Teacher. Hidden in these lessons will begin to show you how to receive More out of your life today.
