Provisions: Part 5 Strength

There are few things in this world that is more delicate than baby critters. From the little fawn to the fuzzy poult, a picture of strength and agility is the opposite that these young ones illustrate. In the wild there are some babies that are literally “ready to run” after only a few hours, while some it make take them a couple of weeks. In either case the little guys must built up their strength in order for it to survive in the world. In most cases the newborns must rely on their mother to help them “power up” during this critical time in their lives. We as baby Christians especially are week and vulnerable spiritually. However, all Christians need constant help from the Lord to strengthen us for the world we face daily. This week we will be looking at some of the “unseen” ways that the mamma hen turkey helps strengthen here poults and compare this to the way we draw strength from God.

Psalms 18:1-2 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Provision of Strength

I. The Mamma Turkey
It is obvious to see the security that the mamma hen provides for her little ones. Nevertheless, without protection the little one will not have the time to build up his strength. It is even clearer to see the mamma hen providing substance to her babies. You cannot produce strength if you don’t eat. How many times have we heard something like this when we were growing up from our parents? However, we will be looking into the unseen or unthought-of things that the mamma turkey does for its young to help strengthen them.

A. Exercise of the legs by the tall grass and weeds.
The most important muscle that little turkeys and other ground dwelling birds must strengthen in order to survive is their leg muscles. Turkeys rely on their legs the most to avoid predators. An extra benefit (other than staying out of sight) to walking through the tall grasses and weeds in fields is to strengthen the little guy’s legs. The mother must walk them around to find food, but also for the poults to can get the exercise they need to develop their leg muscles properly. This is many times very difficult for the poults to do, but again necessary for survival.

B. A Poult can’t fly until his or her legs are strengthened.
You would think that for any bird its wings would be the most important. However, even for fight a turkeys legs are still the most important. They must have the leg strength to be able to push off with enough force to produce the lift needed for fight. Once a poult has the strength to fly this increases its chances dramatically in survival and being recruited into the population.

The Master Trainer
It is obvious to see the security that the Lord provides for His children when we look through the scriptures and even back into our lives. We see quickly that we could not have made it and turned out the way we did without God’s protecting hand. It is even clearer to see the importance of the Master Teacher providing scriptural substance to us over the years. You cannot produce spiritual strength with out the Word of God; food for spiritual health. However, we will be looking into the unseen or unthought-of things that the Master Trainer puts us through to help strengthen us.

A. Exercise of love by trials and temptations.
There is so much we do not know about the “ways” and “whys” the Lord does what He does in raising up His children on earth. When the toughest tests and temptations come our way it’s hard to see the hand of God using these to evaluate and build-up our faith. When hard times and heart aches come our way it’s even harder to imagine that God would use these to strengthen us for something else down the road. However, this is the love of the Father showed to us in an unthinkable way for us humans. He knows that the world out there is a cruel place and we will need spiritual strength to overcome.

B. A Christian cannot fly for God until his or her love is strengthened.
The fact of the matter is most of us Christians are spiritually week. We don’t read our Bibles enough or look to God enough for the strength we need to get us through the days. This makes it hard for us to see God’s love in the trials and temptations of life that He sends us. You see He knows that we cannot run or fly for Him as ambassadors of Heaven if our love for Him is not strengthened. Put your complete trust in the Lord today. Allow Him to work in your lives and build up spiritual strength in you so you can be a better witness, worker, and warrior for Christ. Fly for God today Christians, Fly!!

Try to open up your spiritual eyes to what God is doing in your lives, and see the strength and love He is showing you. However, if you cannot see and understand what He is doing, trust in Him anyways and always; there is great strength in that.

God Bless and Happy Hunting.
