Black Stallion Cowpeas are Tecomate’s property peas that are fast growing, provides high nutrition, produces lots of tonnage, and can withstand heavy browsing pressure. These peas have been in our best selling warm season blends (Lablab Plus & Horn-maker Extreme) for years and now available as a stand alone. Black Stallion Cowpea’s forage is highly attractive and high in protein alone but when they start producing peas the attractiveness and protein levels increase which the deer can’t resist. Black Stallion’s are a warm season annual that can be planted from March through July depending on your climate and will grow in a wide diversity of soils. These peas also work great when added to a fall blend to increase activity to early season plots.

Regional food plot seed products offer best results.
Tecomate Seed makes product recommendations based specifically on the region where they are best adapted (see planting zone map below). Recognizing that areas of the country differ in environmental conditions is only one piece of the puzzle. Regional Tecomate agronomists are an integral part of the sales effort.
The Tecomate Zone Map is a valuable tool when planning deer, turkey, and game-bird food plots. Tecomate recommendations are based on extensive research and quantified results in specific zones. Further, each recommended product is regionally blended using seeds that are best suited for the climate and rainfall in that area.
